Body Electric is a 1-3 weeks dance intensive designed for advance dancers age 14-21 interested in the professional track. The mission of Body Electric is to provide young dancers the opportunity to train and work with esteemed teachers and access to emerging and established choreographers. The intensive is designed to cultivate professionalism while nurturing creative talent; instilling a strong technical foundation with layered artistry. BODY ELECTRIC mission is to challenge dancers to work technically and artistically beyond their boundaries while incorporating performance electricty.
The program emphasizes a strong focus on ballet and classical modern such as Graham, Horton, and Limon to build a strong and informative foundation. The second part of the program is dedicated to the creative component of improvisation and choreography. Repertory and choreography classes are designed for dancers to apply and use elements of their technical skills within a choreographic setting. Dancers will learn new and existing works, while having tthe opportunity to workshop their own choreographic voice and movement material. The third part of the workshop is dedicated to performance quality. This part examines the artistic deliverance of choreography and movement and the importance of phrasing, dynamic, and nuance.
