Orange County, CA—The Thang Dao Dance Company in collaboration with Ballet Austin II will present Quiet Imprint, a work from New American Talent/Dance (2006) and Spotlight (1997) winner Thang Dao interpreting personal narratives based on the displaced Vietnamese community. Specifically, the work addresses the journey by those dispersed from Vietnam (the “Diaspora”) during and following the conflict from 1959 – 1975. The project is a direct result of the prestigious Princess Grace Foundation Special Project Grant, which premiered March 2010. Quiet Imprint was nominated by the Austin Critics Table for Best Choreographer and Best Ensemble. In response to audience and critical acclaim, Ballet Austin reprised Quiet Imprint for 4 encore performances the following October. In April 2011, the Vietnamese Science and Culture Association brought Quiet Imprint to the Vietnamese Community in Houston. This October, Ballet Austin II and Quiet Imprint will have their debut tour in Orange County at the Rose Center Theater.
