Thang Dao Dance Company

WELCOME

Thang Dao Dance Company is a 501(c)3 contemporary dance company based in New York City. The company supports the choreographic work of Artistic Director Thang Dao and provides a creative outlet for many of New York's finest dancers. TDDC provides a nurturing environment in which Mr. Dao and his dancers investigate new movement and produce choreography through a collaborative effort. Using classical vocabulary as a launching point, TDDC works to develop a movement language that is vivid and compelling, and in doing so hopes to resonate with an ever-increasing audience.

The last several years have seen Mr. Dao's choreographic career on the rise as he receives wider recognition as a talented dance-maker. The 2007-2008 season brought the debut of the Contemporary Dance Festival, through which Mr. Dao was awarded the 2008 Princess Grace Fellowship for his works S.O.S. and Glass Violin Concerto. 2008-2009 was a pivotal season in increasing national exposure for Mr. Dao, with new works created for the Boston Conservatory and Ballet Austin II.

For the 2009-2010 season, TDDC will once again host the Contemporary Dance Festival November 5-8 at Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, located at 248 West 60th Street behind Lincoln Center. In addition, Mr. Dao has been commissioned to create a new work for Philadelphia's Ballet X, and in the spring, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's second company will perform Mr. Dao's recent work Echoes at the Joyce Theater. TDDC anticipates presenting its own New York season in May 2010.

We hope you will share in this exciting time for TDDC as Mr. Dao's choreographic career continues on its upward trajectory. We look forward to seeing you at our next performance!
